A Pueblo park will receive improvements

Pueblo residents said it’s a park no one goes to because it is outdated, but the city’s parks and recreation department hopes to change that.

The department received a $200,000 federal grant to improve Plaza Verde Park on Pueblo’s East Side.

The money will go toward building a shelter and replacing the old playground equipment.

Kathy Nival said she’s happy to finally see improvements on the park.

“We can go at least enjoy Sunday or Saturdays at the park and have picnics” she said.

Construction on the park is set to begin early next week and the department hopes for it to be done by May.
