Ft. Carson soldiers compete in Iron Horse Week
Ft. Carson soldiers tested their strength, speed and teamwork Thursday at the Iron Horse Week Warrior Medley.
Soldiers from different units competed against each other during the week, in multiple events. These included basketball, combatives, a 10-kilometer run, among others. Thursday’s event was a relay race named the Warrior Medley.
“The best soldiers get to compete and show what they’re made of,” 1st Lt. Robert Zebrowski said.
Different teams of eight had to run a short distance while carrying heavy objects. After running with each of the objects twice, they had to disassemble and reassemble a 50-caliber machine gun.
“I think it really helps you for working as a team, it gets you closer to your guys, you have to communicate really well,” Spc. Jessie Henderson said.
The winners of the weeklong events receive the Commander’s Cup.
“(We get) bragging rights, absolutely. That’s important,” Zebrowski said. “You get to kind of rub it in all the other units’ face, showing that we’re the best.”
