CSU-Pueblo pantry opens for students and staff in need

A pantry meant to help out students and faculty at CSU-Pueblo opened Thursday for weekly distribution.

Autumn Black, a senior at the university, took over the Pack Pantry almost a year ago. The first items distributed were meant to help families during the holidays. Now, if a student or staff member needs supplies the pantry can help.

Originally, the pantry was part of Black’s internship, and then it grew into something that can help the whole university.

The Care and Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado the CSU-Pueblo Foundation, the President’s Leadership Program, the Veterans Resource Center and Student Veterans Association, Lambda Chi Fraternity, Athletics Department, Alumni Association, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Classified Staff Council, and Admin Pro Council all pitched in to help the pantry.

“Everyone should have the basic necessities of life which includes food and shelter and if we can help in any way to help people get those basic necessities we would love to do that,” Black said.

The pantry will be open during the spring semester on Wednesdays from 1-5 p.m. and on Thursdays from 8 a.m.-noon. It is only open for students and faculty at CSU-Pueblo.
