The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories for most of southeastern Colorado.

The Winter Storm Warning includes Teller County, Las Animas County, Baca County, Huerfano County and portions of Custer, Fremont and Alamosa counties. According to the National Weather Service, 6″-12″ of snow may fall in these areas, with heavier amounts in the higher mountain areas. The warnings end at midnight for Teller County, and at 5 a.m. Thursday elsewhere.

The remainder of southeastern Colorado is under a Winter Weather Advisory which expires at Midnight for all areas except for the San Luis Valley where the advisory expires at 5 a.m. The advisory includes Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Alamosa, Caon City, La Junta, Lamar and Eads. The National Weather Service is predicting that 4″-10″ of snow will fall in these areas.

Most of the snow with this storm is expected to fall during the day, but more chances for snow take us into early Thursday morning before the snow ends.
