Monument residents dig out of deep snow

Snow-packed and icy roads made for a slick drive Wednesday morning.

Monument residents had to clear their driveways before commuting to work.

Dave Manst spent the morning clearing his driveway.

“It is awesome snow,” Manst said. “It’s big, it’s soft and easy to snow blow.”

His son helped him shovel the snow.

“District 38 has a snow day today,” Manst said. “So my son is helping with the driveway.”

Not everyone had a full day off.Janeal Tyler teaches for a school district in Colorado Springs. Her school was on a two-hour delay.

“The delayed start really makes a difference,” Tyler said. “There have been a few times when the storm snuck up on us and we didn’t have a two-hour delay and it still wound up taking us two hours to get to work.”

Some Monument residents said they spent more time shoveling their driveway Wednesday than any other morning this winter.
