Colorado may order new health exchange review

Colorado is headed toward giving its health insurance exchange its deepest review yet. Democrats have stopped opposing an expanded audit for Connect For Health Colorado.

A bill to order the audit cleared a Senate committee 5-0 Wednesday, with three Republicans and two Democrats in favor.

The audit was a priority for Republicans last year, but the proposal failed in the Democratic-controlled Senate. Democrats said that the exchange had already been audited and that an extra audit would be needless.

But the GOP now controls the Senate and Democrats have dropped their opposition.

The state-run exchange is entering its second year of selling insurance plans to comply with the new federal law.
