Suspicious package found in downtown parking garage turns out to be empty box

Colorado Springs Police say a suspicious package that was found in a downtown parking garage Tuesday turned out to be an empty box.

The investigation forced the closure of Colorado Ave. at Tejon St.

The garage is located next door to the Plaza of the Rockies and across the street from the Colorado Springs City Administration Building. The United States Olympic Committee headquarters is also nearby.

KRDO NewsChannel 13 Chief Photojournalist Chris Jacobs reported that the ATF was on scene.

Police said last week’s bombing outside of a building that houses the NAACP is one of the reasons why they took this situation so seriously.
