Plows plan for slow, snowy morning commute

Falling snow Sunday night had city and county crews planning ahead for the morning commute.

Colorado Springs’ City Streets Division sent out a partial crew at 8:15 p.m. to start clearing roads and preparing ahead of the commute.

El Paso County plans to send crews out at 2 a.m. to clear roads.

Jeff Pannell will be on his own patrol. The hill in front of his house, Viking Drive, can be tricky during the snow.

“It just looked like a solid layer of ice,” said Pannell.

Pannell said he called the Streets Division and he said the problem was taken care of promptly. He said now he knows to watch the roads and call more quickly.

“I feel like I’m the guy now that has to make the call. Keep everybody safe,” said Pannell.

In Colorado Springs, some areas could see as much as 5 inches.
