Mayoral hopeful faces new charges following Monday morning arrest

Colorado Springs Police say Justine Herring is facing charges for felony assault and violating a protection order following an incident Monday morning (1/12/15).

Police were called to the 600 block of Glen Eyrie Circle at around 8:30 a.m.

Police say Herring assaulted her common law husband with an object that could be considered a weapon. They also say Herring was not supposed to be at the house because of a mandatory protection order.

Herring, who has said she wants to be mayor of Colorado Springs, was already facing charges for a January 3 incident in which she’s accused of pointing an AR-15 at a man.

Herring told KRDO she was innocent of those charges in an exclusive interview, which can be viewed here.
