Pueblo police investigating home invasion and shooting
A man in Pueblo said he was forced to shoot an intruder early this morning after waking up to a home invasion on Saturday.
Officers said a man was brought into Parkview Medical Center’s Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to the right upper leg. Police responded to the hospital at about 2 a.m.
Police said another man found the injured man lying in the street and transported him to the hospital.
Once officers found out where the shooting happened, police responded to the 1700 Block of E. Third St.
Ian Lindeman said he shot the intruder. He said he is lucky to be alive.
“I couldn’t be anymore thankful to be alive right now because that could have gone a lot worse,” he said.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a disturbance occurred in the home and shots were fired.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Unit determined this was a home invasion where the homeowner used a firearm to defend himself.
Police have made one arrest, and as the investigation continues additional arrests are anticipated.
The man who sustained injuries in this incident is in stable condition.
This remains an ongoing active investigation.
