Gas prices continue to fall in Colorado

Colorado drivers are feeling more relief at the pump at the start of the new year.

The national average for a gallon of gas is $2.23. Many Southern Colorado gas stations are selling gas for less than $2 per gallon.

“It’s nice to be able to put $20 into your gas tank and have it fill up,” Ellen Welch said.

According to AAA, gas prices are at their lowest in five years. It’s become a welcome site for many drivers.

“I paid $1.76 per gallon today,” Michael Macy said. “I can’t remember the last time it was that cheap.”

Less money in the gas tank means more money to spend elsewhere.

“I commute to Canon City, so the drop in gas prices really helps a lot,” Macy said. “I’ll probably do more traveling.”

Some drivers said they hope gas prices continue to drop in 2015.

“I’d like to see it go down even further,” Welch said. “I paid 10 cents a gallon when I was in college.”
