First day of 2015 brings more snow to Pikes Peak region
It came a week later than many preferred but the area settled for a white New Year’s Day instead of a white Christmas.
Heavy snow began falling late Thursday morning and continued through the afternoon. At times, near-whiteout conditions were reported along U.S. 24 from western El Paso County to eastern Park County.
Plows kept busy and residents spent part of the holiday shoveling or sweeping snow away.
