Woman burned in west Colorado Springs duplex fire

A fire sparked in an upstairs unit of a duplex near Bear Creek Nature Center Tuesday morning.

Photos from the Colorado Springs fire department showed smoke and flames pouring out of the building in the 1300 block of Westend Ave.

The fire department said a woman was taken to the hospital with minor burns. Two other people who were in the duplex were not hurt.

Fire investigators say an unattended candle in the living room is responsible for starting the fire.
