Police say man arrested after leading officers on two pursuits in two days

The Pueblo Police Department says a man led officers on two pursuits over the weekend.

The first chase happened Saturday in the 2000 block of Mohawk Road when, according to police, a stolen car was spotted.

Police said that when they tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off. Officers chased the car before calling off the pursuit for safety reasons. Police believe Calvin Winters, 30, was behind the wheel.

The second chase began Sunday evening in the 400 block of E. Pitkin Avenue when officers said they spotted Winters driving a different car. Police said Winters crashed into a cement barrier and tried to ram a police cruiser before speeding away.

The second chase ended when officers used a PIT maneuver in the 100 block of Washington Street. Police said Winters tried to run away on foot, but he was quickly captured.

Winters is facing numerous charges including vehicular eluding, resisting arrest, violating a restraining order and reckless driving. Police said Winters also had two felony arrest warrants.
