Commissioners renew marijuana license; accepting applications for marijuana board

A recreational marijuana store in Pueblo County will be allowed to keep its doors open, despite the owner admitting to several violations.

On Monday, Pueblo County commissioners renewed the license for ‘The Spot’ in Pueblo West. Last week, the owner, Robert Lucero, told commissioners that several of the violations happened before he became the owner.

Some of the violations included not having enough security cameras in the store and not keeping a log of visitors. Commissioners approved the license under the condition that employees get trained on marijuana compliance laws.

In other news, county commissioners are now accepting applications for a proposed Liquor and Marijuana Licensing Board. The seven-member board will be appointed by county commissioners and will serve staggered three-year terms.

The board will license and regulate all liquor, marijuana and dance-hall establishments in unincorporated Pueblo County. Applicants must live in the county and not have a financial interest in any marijuana or liquor establishment.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, Jan. 9, 2015. Those interested can apply online at http://county.pueblo.org/ and click on the Boards and Commissions tab.
