Cold temperatures could mean frozen pipes
We’re about to see some of the coldest weather of the season.
That could mean trouble for your plumbing.
Plumbers are expecting to be busy this week as the temperatures plunge.
When it gets below zero, pipes can freeze and burst, especially copper pipes that face outside walls.
To try to avoid frozen pipes, you probably know about dripping your faucets, but you may not be doing it right.
“A lot of people just leave their cold on but you want to leave your hot on a little bit too because that freezes too when it’s not circulating,” said Joel Van Horn, the service manager for Olson Heating and Plumbing in Colorado Springs.
Van Horn says that there shouldn’t be as many problems with this cold snap because it isn’t expected to last that long.
