Man arrested, accused of beating woman for two days
A La Plata County man was arrested Wednesday (12/25) morning for reportedly beating a woman and keeping her from leaving her home.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on La Plata County Road 318 early Wednesday morning. They say, after opening the door, 55 year old Kristy Harris begged them to help her. She was bloody and semi-conscious.
Harris was taken to Mercy Hospital with head and ear injuries. Investigators believe she was hit with a cast iron frying pan and had other blunt force trauma.
46 year old Edward Venteroso was not supposed to have contact with Harris because of a previous assault. Investigators say he went to her house Tuesday and assaulted her multiple times. He reportedly would not let Harris leave the house or seek medical attention. Investigators say he also damaged Harris’ phone to keep her from calling 911.
Venteroso was arrested in Harris’ house on First Degree Assault charges, Violation of a Protection Order, False Imprisonment and Obstructing of Telephone Service. He’s being held on $25,000 bond at the La Plata County Detention Center.
