Incoming Heavy Snow
Colorado Springs, Colo. –An area of low pressure is on track to move across the state early Friday morning.
Strong winds and much colder temperatures will enter our area late Thursday night.
This incoming winter weather system is expected to bring heavy bands of snow across much of Colorado.
The Western mountains will catch the brunt of the the storm, however Eastern Colorado will also see the impacts.
Forecast models are suggesting 3 to 7 inches for the Palmer Divide region and 2-4 inches for Woodland Park. El Paso and Pueblo counties will likely see 1 to 3 inches of accumulation. South Central Colorado should see heavier accumulations, likely up to 6 inches into the foothills with greater amounts into the Southern mountain ranges.
As we all know, snow accumulations tend to range greatly throughout Southern Colorado, and can change very quickly. The take home message here is hazardous travel. Friday morning roads will likely be very icy and snow packed. Plan extra time for your commute and if your travel plans take you out of the state, your best bet is to wait until early afternoon.
