AMR provides free rides on Christmas
It’s a special Christmas for a 96 year old woman in Pueblo.
Trinidad Lucero is confined to a wheelchair and has lived in a care center in the city for more than a year.
She doesn’t see her family too often, but the emergency crew American Medical Response wanted to change that with its Home for the Holidays program.
This year, the group picked 16 nursing home patients to bring home to their families.
“It’s really good to see family in a good time of need when we are use to seeing it the other way around,” Will Gavigan, a paramedic for AMR, said.
Lucero was one of the chosen few.
AMR took Lucero to her granddaughter’s home to meet and eat with her whole family.
“Whenever we do anything special we make sure she comes,” Rita Cordova, Lucero’s daughter, said.
Even though Lucero isn’t there cooking or preparing the Christmas meal, she said it’s wonderful just to be with her family for the holiday.
AMR said it has been taking people home for the holidays for more than 20 years.
