Volunteers stuff stockings during charity event
Hundreds of volunteers spent Sunday morning stuffing more than 1,000 Christmas stockings.
An assembly line of volunteers packed toys, food and clothing into stockings before delivering them to people in need.
17-year-old Gabby Enloe and her brother, Gavin, came up with the idea three years ago.
“It just started off with my brother and I in our house. We just got stuff with our allowance at the dollar store, filled some stockings up and then gave it to the homeless around town,” Enloe said.
They filled 30 stockings during their first year, and decided to make it a community event in 2013.
This year, they received more than $20,000 in donations, which funded toys and supplies.
Enloe said she wants everyone to have an opportunity to open a stocking on Christmas.
“We want them to know that they still do have support, they still do have people that love them,” Enloe said.
