Denver parents charged after toddler tests for pot

A Denver couple are being prosecuted for child abuse after their 3-year-old daughter tested positive for marijuana use.

Prosecutors charged 33-year-old Mario Hollerway and 26-year-old Alysia Lombard with misdemeanor child abuse and having more pot than allowed under Colorado law on Wednesday.

They took their daughter to the hospital after she became sick after eating on Nov. 13 and she tested positive for THC, marijuana’s psychoactive ingredient. Police say a plastic bin with over 8 ounces of pot was found in the home – about 6 ounces more than allowed. Lombard told police that there was also some cannabis butter in the house but she didn’t use it in her daughter’s food.

Neither Hollerway nor Lombard appeared in court yet and it’s not clear if they have lawyers.
