Saving Time at the Security Line

If you’re planning on flying the friendly skies this holiday season, you’ll have plenty of company.

More than 5 million people will travel by air.

Like the Witt Family. They flew into Colorado Springs from Los Angeles this morning.

They didn’t have a problem with the security lines.

“They were about average, there wasn’t any problem with (them),” they said.

For Cody Kennedy-Hedrick, it was a different story. He came to Colorado Springs from Denver after starting the day at Dulles International Airport.

“I had about an hour to catch my flight and everything that could go wrong went wrong in those lines,” he said.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says that sometimes the delays can be avoided.

Carrie Harmon, a spokesperson for the TSA said, “most of the time they forget or they don’t know that something is prohibited.”

She’s talking about items that can’t be taken through the screening process. Some of the things that you can’t take through the screening line are obvious.

But other things – like bottles of water – you nay not have thought about.

There are ways to make sure that you’re not delayed as you go through the screening this holiday season.

The best way is to let your fingers do the walking first.

“It’s really helpful to look at the TSA web site before you go,” said Harmon.

That way you can enjoy those special moments with your family this holiday season.

While knowing that your luggage was able to come along for the ride too.
