Big donation for Bob Telmosse Giveaway

For 32 years they’ve given toys, bikes and even a Christmas meal to thousands of local kids.

Last Friday we checked in with the foundation and heard some bad news.

Organizers said they were running way behind on their favorite gift for kids: bicycles.

But now, things are turning around.

“When Scott ran his story on Friday about the bikes, we had an anonymous donor call Ted’s bicycles and buy $2,000 worth of bikes,” said Kevin Starling with the Bob Telmosse Foundation.

The pile of bikes has grown from 400 to 600 and counting.

But the donations haven’t stopped there.

“We need to get all this stuff to the North Pole so it can be delivered in time because I still believe in Santa,” said Bruce Parkman, CEO of the Macalan Group.

When Parkman heard that the foundation was in trouble, he put on his Santa hat.

“I grew up with nothing. I’ve been very blessed and believe if you have you should give back,” said Parkman. “For me it was an easy decision. I used to wake up and there wasn’t that much under the tree. There are kids who wake up with nothing. I can’t imagine. So I want to do what I can. So it‘s personal.”

Parkman bought $3,000 worth of toys, all for kids in need.

The foundation is still in need of toys, turkeys and canned food.

If you would like to help just drop off donations at the Freedom Financial Expo Center at 3650 N. Nevada Ave.

The event is 9 a.m. this Saturday at the Freedom Financial Services Expo Center.
