An inside look with FedEx; Busiest shipping day in history
If you’ve ordered Christmas gifts online, there’s a good chance they’ll be shipped out on Monday.
FedEx expects Monday to be its busiest in history. The company is sending out more than 22 million packages.
KRDO Newschannel 13 got an inside look at the operation. On Monday morning, we went to the FedEx facility on Centennial Boulevard in Colorado Springs.
“Coffee is very important,” said one FedEx employee. “We’ve been planning for it throughout the year and we’re ready for it.”
More than double the number of workers were ready to take on the massive conveyer belt filled with packages.
Once each item is scanned and sorted, they’re loaded inside the familiar FedEx trucks. Drivers tell us, they’re thankful for the clear conditions.
“I’m glad it didn’t snow. That plays a really critical role,” said Mike Brady with FedEx.
And another role, perhaps the most critical one, is teamwork.
“We do it together. We work together and we all get done at the same time. With this job it’s always positive,” said a FedEx employee.
“We’re excited by it. I know we have the ability to affect somebody’s holiday in a positive way. That’s why we look forward to it,” said Brady.
Thousands of packages will be delivered on Monday in Colorado Springs, so make sure you have someone at home to sign for those items.
If you won’t be home, there are other delivery options and recommendations on the FedEx website.
