People are spending more in Pueblo

Pueblo is reaping the benefits of people being put to work and gas not putting a hole in people’s wallets.

The sales tax revenue is up in Pueblo.

The city is making close to a million more dollars through October. That’s up from that point last year.

The city manager said the revenue is up because more people have jobs in Pueblo and gas prices are lower than they were last year.

Forest Archuleta is a manager of a coffee shop. She said her business is experiencing the same trend.

“It’s really great. We’ve really built up a good clientele over the years. I mean usually the summers is when we have the nice weather and that’s when we start to get really busy and sometimes we have lines going out the door,” she said.

The sales tax in Pueblo is 3.5 percent.
