Snow Tires Vs. Regular Tires

Colorado Springs — With snow forecast for the weekend, it might be a good time to consider snow tires.

“Well, I’m always concerned in this area, especially whether I’m going to get up the next hill,” said local driver Jack Bramlett.

Bramlett is on the market for new tires, she’s feeling a bit anxious about the upcoming season.

“Snow tires are designed for 40 degree weather,” said Curtesy Automotive Owner Dale Kurtzan. “All-season tire is designed for more of your normal temperatures.”

Kurtz says it’s wise to do a little research before getting new tires. Snow tires are really good on snow and ice, but when you add in the studs along with it, it adds an exceptional grip to the ice as well.

“I’m always a little concerned about whether I can get around, because I have a two-wheel drive vehicle,” added Bramlett.

Snow tires have little cracks in the tread, gripping the ice and snow and acting like a sponge. It’s a simple way to prepare, and let you rest easy on the road this season.
