Commissioners reject appeal for proposed marijuana club in Pueblo West

Pueblo County Commissioners declined to hear an appeal filed by marijuana entrepreneurs looking to open a marijuana club in Pueblo West.

Commissioners unanimously agreed on Monday morning not to hear the appeal filed by Sweet Leaf Ltd. on Nov. 5, after the Pueblo County Planning Commission rejected a special use permit for a club on 420 S. McCulloch Blvd.

The planning commission rejected the permit on Oct. 29, citing that the applicants had not provided them enough information on the club.

Commissioner Terry Hart said he stands by the planning commission’s decision.

“From everything we could tell, the planning commission did a really good job of reviewing all the evidence, listening to the testimony pro and con, and simply making a decision that they didn’t feel that this application was at the right spot,” Hart said.

As of now, no marijuana clubs operate in Pueblo County.
