Pueblo County goes over recreational pot tax revenue limit

People in Pueblo County are going to get money back because of recreational marijuana sales.

The county has made more than $430,000 from taxing recreational pot through October.

The limit for tax revenue in the county is $400,000. It is now up to the county on how to give back the money to the people.

Pueblo County commissioner Sal Pace said that’s not going to be easy to figure out.

“Well we haven’t determined how we are going give back the refund. A lot of that is going to take work in figuring it out. One option that I like is allowing folks to do a check off for their property tax revenue,” he said.

The county has until early 2016 to figure out what to do with the extra money.

Recreation pot stores in Pueblo County have made more than $12 million combined

The county has a 3.5 percent sales tax on recreational marijuana.
