Man faces attempted murder charge in shooting that left dog dead
A man is facing a charge of attempted first degree murder in connection to a shooting that left a family pet dead.
Joe Quintana, 22, was arrested after police executed a search warrant in the 1600 block of Hooper Ave. on Thursday (12/4/14).
Officers responded to a shots fired call shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday night (12/3/14) in the 1600 block of W. 13th St.
Police said four men dressed in black fired shots into a house. There were people inside the home at the time, but no one was hurt. A dog that was in the yard was shot and killed.
Police said the men went to the home to steal marijuana plants, which they then planned to sell.
Amanda Hood lives down the street from where the shooting happened. She said the shooting is upsetting.
“Why would anyone shoot a dog? That dog wasn’t doing anything but protecting its territory,” she said.
Hood said the shooting makes her worry about her own pet.
“My dog is my child. He’s like my baby,” she said.
