A group of students in Pueblo is collecting toys to give to kids

A group of students wants to make the holidays special for kids in Pueblo hospitals.

The National Honor Society at Central High School is collecting toys for its 15th annual Hearts for the Holidays Toy Drive.

The toys will go to children in pediatric units at Parkview and St. Mary-Corwin medical centers.

Lois Conatore is a teacher and organizer of the drive. She said giving rather than receiving is a lesson that can’t be taught in the classroom.

“When the kids go to the pediatric units and they actually see the smiles and happiness in the kids’ faces, it makes it worthwhile,” she said.

New, unwrapped toys will be collected until Dec. 19 at Central High School.
