Colorado sets Black Friday gun record

Santa’s packing some heat along with the toys this holiday season in Colorado.

The state set a Black Friday record for gun background checks last week. KMGH reports that the Colorado Bureau of Investigation conducted more than 4,100 background checks. That was up from 3,800 on Black Friday the year before.

The Saturday after the 2012 Sandy Hook school shootings also saw more than 4,100 background checks for potential gun purchases.

At the Centennial Gun Club, managers tell the station that first-time buyers and hunters are making up the bulk of recent business.

Managers say that buyers cite everything from the economy to news events in the U.S. and overseas when buying guns.
