PCC automotive program receives re-accreditation
Pueblo Community College is raising the bar for acceptance into its automotive program.
During a news conference Tuesday morning, college leaders announced the program was recently re-accredited, gaining a National Coalition of Certification Centers status. The program was suspended for a semester while the college formed a partnership with Snap-on Tools.
College administrators said the partnership will enable them to provide a better trained workforce to local dealerships.
KRDO NewsChannel 13 spoke with a student in the program who’s graduating in the spring.
“The industry is becoming very competitive nowadays, especially with electronics and that’s one of the big things with the Snap-on partnership is the electronics, because nowadays the majority of the vehicles are run through electronics,” said Luis Cazares, a Pueblo Community College senior.
More than two dozen of its graduates work at local dealerships. Ninety students are enrolled in the program.
