New program helps veterans applying for jobs
A new program aims to make it easier for veterans to apply for jobs outside the state.
The program offers veterans free stays at Hilton hotels while they are on job interviews. It is offered through a partnership between Hilton Hotels, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment and the National Association of State Workforce Agencies.
Veterans with an honorable discharge looking for work can take advantage of the program by going through the Pikes Peak Workforce Center.
“This will make it easier for them to attend job interviews outside the state, whereas prior to that they would turn down those opportunities, because they couldn’t afford to do it,” Veterans’ Employment Representative Warren Pete Hall said.
The program is currently in a pilot stage and offered only through the local workforce agency, but it will expand to the rest of the state in the upcoming months.
