Puebloans call for justice after Ferguson decision

Protestors chanted “No justice, no peace!” at the Sister Cities Plaza, calling for justice for Michael Brown.

About 30 protesters in Pueblo assembled at the plaza the day after a grand jury decided not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in Brown’s fatal shooting.

Organizer Rita Martinez said it’s time to take a stand against the militarization of law enforcement, which she believes is happening in Pueblo.

“They use tank-like vehicles to serve warrants in the low-income communities, like dog patch. And that’s unheard of and that’s unnecessary,” Martinez said.

Sgt. Eric Gonzales said officers monitored the protest from a distance and it remained peaceful.
