Church members pray for peace in Ferguson

Members of Christ Temple Community Church in Colorado Springs came together to watch the Ferguson grand jury announcement Monday night and pray for peace.

A group of about a dozen people watched the announcement that no charges would be filed against officer Darren Wilson in disbelief. Afterward, they offered prayers for peace to the family of Michael Brown and talked about race issues in America.

Jesse Brown, a pastor, said that even though Ferguson may be miles away, race issues affect every city in America and it’s important to use this incident to open productive conversation.

“Not only conversation, but do some things in schools to educate our children so our children will feel valued,” Brown said.

Brown and other churchgoers said though they were disappointed with the grand jury’s decision, they were not surprised.
