Pueblo County may sue Colorado Springs

The City of Colorado Springs could be facing another lawsuit.

Pueblo County feels the city isn’t doing enough flood projects on Fountain Creek.

The creek flows from Colorado Springs to Pueblo and feeds into the Arkansas River.

County Commissioner Sal Pace said if the city doesn’t figure out how to protect Fountain Creek, something could be taken away.

“The county issued the permit that Colorado Springs Utilities could use the Southern Delivery System to pump water from Lake Pueblo to Colorado Springs. It’s about a $1 billion project and part of that permit was a promise to take care of their stormwater issues,” he said.

The Lower Arkansas Valley Water Conservancy District has already sent a notice to sue to the city.

The district has 119 days to file suit.
