Plane crash-lands upside down; 2 aboard survive

Authorities say a small plane making an emergency landing in eastern Colorado flipped onto its top and came to a rest in a field, but both people aboard survived.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Department says the crash-landing occurred Thursday night northeast of Strasburg, about 35 miles east of Denver.

The pilot and an adult passenger were taken to a hospital for examination. It wasn’t immediately clear if either was hurt. Their names haven’t been released.

Sheriff’s deputies say the plane’s engine quit and the pilot was attempting to land on a road when the plane overturned.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.

The plane hit power lines, trigging a local electrical failure. Utility crews were working to restore service Friday.
