County commissioner launches campaign for mayoral bid

El Paso County Commissioner Amy Lathen officially announced her bid for Colorado Springs mayor at a campaign launch event Monday night.

About 100 supporters gathered at Qualtek Manufacturing for the event.

Lathen talked about her leadership experience as county commissioner and her ability to collaborate and bring people together. She also talked about her love for the city of Colorado Springs.

Also in the running are former Colorado Springs mayor Mary Lou Makepeace, State Attorney General John Suthers and real estate agent Justine Herring.

Mayor Steve Bach has not said whether he plans to seek another term.
