Man dead in shooting with Arapahoe County deputies

A man is dead after a shooting with Arapahoe County sheriff’s deputies during a traffic stop.

The shooting happened late Sunday night on an exit ramp on Interstate 225 near the Denver Tech Center. Deputies stopped the man after a chase because he had passed too close to deputies investigating an unrelated case on Interstate 25 and Bellevue earlier.

After the deputies checked the driver’s information and walked toward his car, police spokesman Vince Line says the man and two deputies exchanged fire.

The man died at the scene. One deputy was injured but Line says he wasn’t shot.
