Tumbleweeds are back, homeowners deal with mess
Some homeowners in Pueblo spent the day cleaning up the tumbleweeds that blew onto their properties Friday.
Melba Potter’s front yard was completely covered in tumbleweeds. The highest point of the pile reached more than 6 feet tall.
“We can’t get through the garage, can’t get through the front door,” her daughter Ashley Laire said.
“I thought somebody played a prank on me,” Potter said.
Some of their neighbors had a few tumbleweeds on their property, but not nearly as many as they did. People driving by stopped to take photos.
The city of Pueblo and the Pueblo Fire Department said it is a property owner’s responsibility to deal with the tumbleweeds. Potter and Laire had help from their neighbors to clean up their yard.
“Thank God for the neighbors,” Potter said.
