Pueblo police to wear body cameras on patrol
Pueblo police officers will soon wear body cameras while responding to calls.
Pueblo city manager Sam Azad briefed council on the $460,000 cost during Monday’s council meeting. The police department plans to purchase 110 cameras from TASER.
Deputy chief Michael Bennett said officers should be wearing those cameras sometime this year. He said the police department will initially pay $44,000 for the cameras from this year’s budget and will pay the remaining expense beginning in 2016, at 0% interest.
Bennett said most of the cost is associated with storing the video and archiving it, not the camera itself.
