Gov. Christie campaigning for Beauprez in Colorado

Colorado Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez continued a line of attack against Gov. John Hickenlooper centering on public safety, this time with the help of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Beauprez and Christie rallied a crowd of Republicans in Colorado Springs Thursday afternoon and decried gun-control laws passed by state Democrats and signed by Hickenlooper. They also criticized the governor for state lawmakers’ failure to pass tougher penalties for repeat DUI offenders and for Hickenlooper granting an indefinite stay of execution to Nathan Dunlap.

Christie heads the Republican Governors Association and this is the fourth time he’s campaigned for Beauprez in Colorado. The race is considered close.

Hickenlooper has stood by his decision to grant Dunlap a stay, and the governor’s administration says Republicans are using hyperbole in the election’s final days.
