2 men charged in 1996 Denver cold case killing

Eighteen years ago Thursday, a 23-year-old man was shot and left to die on a Denver street. Now two men are charged with first-degree murder and retaliation against a witness in the death of Darryl Givens.

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey announced the charges filed against 44-year-old Antonio Domena and 41-year-old Sheldon Long on Wednesday.

They were arrested late last week after a detective with the city’s Cold Case Project took a new look at the slaying and re-interviewed witnesses.

Domena and Long remain in jail and are scheduled to appear in court on Friday to be advised of the charges against them. It’s not clear whether they have attorneys yet.
