1st responders questioned about fatal crash theft

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether any first responders stole the contents of a purse from the scene of a crash that killed two women in Longmont.

Cmdr. Heidi Prentup told the Longmont Times-Call that investigators are interviewing all people who responded to September’s crash but she declined to provide any more details.

Longmont Police Cmdr. Jeff Satur said the possible theft was reported to Longmont police but the department asked the sheriff’s office to investigate because Longmont officers were among those at the scene. Crews from the Longmont Fire Department, AMR ambulance service and the county coroner’s office also responded.

Twenty-eight-year-old Lisa Garcia of Longmont died at the scene and 58-year-old Therese Woodworth of Dacono was pronounced dead at a hospital soon after the crash.
