Commissioners to get results of Maketa probe
El Paso County commissioners are close to learning the findings of an investigation into employee complaints against Sheriff Terry Maketa.
Commissioners are scheduled to be briefed on the investigation during a closed-door session on Thursday.A spokesperson for the county will make a summary of the results public.
Maketa, who is term-limited and will leave office in January, has been accused of having affairs with three female subordinates, creating a hostile work environment and budget improprieties.
In May, El Paso County commissioners unanimously voted for Maketa to resign. He has apologized for what he called inappropriate behavior but said he wouldn’t resign.
Commissioner Amy Lathen says some findings may not be released because of pending litigation and personnel privacy rules.
