Wanted sexual assault suspect captured

A man wanted on a sexual assault charge, who was on the District Attorney’s most wanted list, has been captured in Colorado Springs.

Edgar Gonzalez was wanted on a charge of Sexual Assault on a Child by a Person in a Position of Trust. Police learned where he was and found him Monday night (10/27/14).

When police ordered Gonzalez to lie on the ground, they say he started reaching around inside of a bag. Police thought he was reaching for a weapon, so they released a canine on Gonzalez.

Police were able to kick the bag away from Gonzalez and arrested him.

Gonzalez now faces a new charge of Obstructing a Peace Officer.
