Historic home becomes a landmark

The Steel City has added another treasure to its collection.

Pueblo City Council made the Adams-Baker home on Orman Avenue a city landmark Monday night.

The process took about five months.

The home is important because according to the local landmark nomination, it is a well-preserved two story home which has the same style from Pueblo in 1912.

It was also home to Dr. William Baker, one of the founding physicians of Parkview Hospital. Williams Adams also lived at the home; he is related to former Colorado Governor Alva Adams.

Rick Gonzales lives near the home. He said the landmark adds value to the neighborhood.

“Well, I think it’s going to be a great asset to the community around here; hopefully, it will make the house property values more stable,” he said.

If any changes are made to the exterior of the home, people would have to get approval from the Pueblo Historic Preservation Commission.
