Freeze warnings and frost advisories issued for southern Colorado
Freeze warnings and frost advisories have been issued for much of southern Colorado for Wednesday morning.
A freeze warning has been issued for areas along and north of the Arkansas River, including Colorado Springs, Pueblo, La Junta, Lamar and the surrounding areas.
A frost advisory has been issued for areas along the New Mexico state line, including Walsenburg, Trinidad, Springfield and surrounding areas.
The warning and the advisory begin at 1 a.m. Wednesday and expire at 9 a.m.
A freeze warning means that sub-freezing temperatures capable of killing crops and other sensitive vegetation are likely. Outdoor water lines may also freeze.
A frost advisory means that frost is possible, which could damage or kill sensitive outdoor plants.
Plants should be covered or brought inside to protect them from the cold if possible.
