Firefighters battle grass fire in Peyton

Firefighters spent Sunday battling a grass fire in Peyton.

It started around 5 p.m. Sunday near Highway 110 and J.D. Johnson Road. Firefighters said it burned about 35 acres and threatened two homes.

Falcon, Peyton, Ellicott, Hanover, Tri-County and others help fire the fire. Firefighters said they got water on the fire within about 10 minutes.

Firefighters said that the homeowners did not have to evacuate because their grass was cut short. That helped the fire from spreading.

The cause and origin of the fire are unknown, firefighters said.
