Pueblo County School District bans app

It’s an application that has caused quite a stir for Pueblo County School District 70.

The app is called Yik-Yak. It allows people to make posts anonymously.

A Pueblo West High School student found a post on the app last week that said there will be a murder in Pueblo West.

The parents of the student found out about the post and police got involved.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said it is difficult to track down who made the murder posting since people on the application are anonymous.

“They certainly have the potential to be problems because of the anonymity,” Capt. David Lucero said.

That’s when the school district put a ban on the application by putting in a geo-fence, which is a virtual barrier.

Each school in District 70 has a geo-fence to block the Yik-Yak application for a 1.5-mile radius.
